The expedition now draws to a close. .

Written by

Hi folks - Kathy and I are now in Lima re packing our cargo and personal item bags. We leave very early tomorrow morning.

The expedition now draws to a close. In the weeks ahead the next aspect of this journey begins... Reviewing nearly 10 hours of footage and beginning the process of editing. This is no simple task, ha ha!

Thanks for joining us during this amazing adventure. Your friendship and support have made all this possible.

There are so many stories to tell you. Things have not always been easily done, but every aspect of this trip has been remarkable. We plan to bring all the details forward once we get rested and resettled into "The Prairie Schooner".

Best Wishes to you all
Jerry and Kathy

Sacred to the local tribes of the Altiplano Bolivia as proof that they had been there forever, this seemingly impossible footprint in 15 million-year-old sandstone (dated by two independent geological teams) had been preserved by the authorities by a surrounding fence as a sacred object.

Shooting Film Near Cajamarca

Written by

After arriving to Cajamarca it became obvious we would need a day to acclimatize to the 9,000 foot elevation. This is not usually needed at this mid-elevation. But because we spent several days in the Amazon our bodies adapted to the high oxygen and moisture content of the jungle atmosphere. We've experienced this before and expected it.

Now fully in step with our current location we are again beginning to shoot footage.

From Cajamarca we travel higher to elevations above 11,500 feet and the aqueducts of Cumbemayo. There's an incredible finish to the story there. We're capturing it and bringing it back for you!

Pitstop on the Amazon

Written by

We needed to stop on our way up river to deliver a few supplies to a small community.

Ps... All photos have been taken by Kathy Wills

Quite a stinking dump. This place is truly filthy and stinks really bad. The water is filled with dead rats, fish, and animals. Human waste floats along like in a giant toilet bowl. Children play in the water, and people actually drink this water after bathing in it. Disgusting...

Everyone must go through here to get to any of the lodges along the river. Really a bad place. A lot of disease here.

Jerry at an animal clinic, holding a young three toed sloth. It was rescued from traders and near death at the time. Once well it will be returned to the jungle.

Songs from the rain..

We left the lodge this morning and have returned to Iquitos. On the way we were hit by 4 separate downpours. Usually this would be no issue but we were traveling in an open cargo boat.

Heavy rain is projected through the next week. Because of this we have decided to leave Tarapoto. Our next stop is the Amazon Rainforest Lodge about an hour outside Iquitos.

Jerry Relaxing In Tarapoto

Enjoying a pitcher of juiced watermelon at Cafe Real watching the sun go behind nearby mountains. It's times like this, when all is quiet, that I reflect on each person in my life I couldn't do without.
